Patrick Joseph Flaherty died Thursday, December 2, 2004, at Community Hospital in McCook. He was 86 years old.
Patrick was born on May 4, 1918, at Lawrence to John and Mary (Baune) Flaherty. He graduated from Indianola High School in 1936.
On October 13, 1942, he married Frances M. Sullivan at McCook. To this union three children were born. They made their home for several years north of Indianola, then moved to the McCook area in 1947 and continued in farming until the present time.
He was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church and a 58 year-plus member of the Knights of Columbus. Patrick was an avid Big Red Fan.
Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Mary Flaherty; one grand-daughter, Kristi Flaherty; three sisters, Ellen, Katherine and Mary Ann; and three brothers, John, Tom and Hank.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Flaherty of McCook; daughter, Jane and husband, Larry Peterson, of Denver, CO; two sons, James Flaherty and wife, Fenella, of McCook and Lynn Flaherty and wife, Linda, of Holdrege; two sisters, Nellie Patrick of Denver and Emma Lehn of Cozad; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorials may be given in his name.
Rosary was Sunday, December 5, 2004, at St. Patricks Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, December 6, 2004, at St. Patricks Catholic Church with Father Gary Brethour officiating. Burial took place in Calvary Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
