Patronellie "Nellie" H. Silver died Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook. She was 92 years old.
Nellie was born on December 10, 1914 at Gresham, Nebraska to Richard and Helena (Neujhar) Peterson. She was baptized in December of 1914.
Her family moved to southwest Nebraska when Nellie was a small child. She attended St. Paul's Parochial School south of Wauneta. She was confirmed in June of 1928 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Palisade.
On January 10, 1937 she married Truman "Bud" A. Silver in Palisade. To this union two daughters were born. They made their home on a farm near Palisade where Nellie was an intricate part of the farming and a homemaker. In 1974, they built a new home in Palisade and moved off the farm. They later moved to Culbertson for a brief time before moving to Willow Ridge Retirement Community in McCook. Nellie was residing at Hillcrest Nursing Home at the time of her death.
Nellie was a member of Palisade Trinity Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid. She served as a Sunday school teacher and organist for many years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and crafts. She and her husband enjoyed fishing and going south to Arizona and Texas for the winter months.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Richard and Helena Peterson; two sisters, Martha Damrow and Louise Schulenburg; and three brothers, George, Edwin and Paul Peterson.
Survivors include her husband of over 70 years, Bud Silver of McCook; two daughters, Lois and husband, Loren Brown, of McCook and Doris and husband, Richard Weaver, of Biloxi, Miss; two grandchildren, Lorna and husband, Gary of Oshkosh, Lyle and wife, Jackie of Palisade; two step-grandchildren, Dan and Amy; three great-grandchildren, Bryan, Myrah and Whitney and numerous nieces and nephews..
Memorials were to be given in her name.
Funeral services were Friday, August 31, 2007, 2:00 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in McCook with Pastor Greg Stuckwisch officiating. Burial took place in the Palisade Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
