Pearl J Andrew

Pearl J Andrew, age 83, of Palisade, NE passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at her home in Palisade.

Pearl was born January 22, 1937 in Douglas County, MO to parents Sophus Clarence and Maggie (Crowley) Hicks.  She was one of eleven children who grew up in Douglas County where she also attended school.

On June 17, 1967, Pearl married James “Jim” Andrew in Seymour, MO. The family made their home in Palisade area for over fifty years where Pearl remained active in the community.  Together with Jim, the couple owned and operated the Palisade Café for many years and were also members of the local VFW.  Pearl served on the Palisade Park Board and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; son, Lawrence Edward Andrew in infancy; daughters, Rose (Hicks) Christner and Kathy Hamilton; sisters, Ann Nivens, Freda Creed, Ida Eske and Betty Noble; brothers, Robert Hicks, Sophus Hicks, Noble Hicks and Edward Hicks; sister in laws, Daphne Hicks, Vera Hicks, Mary Hicks and Clara Hicks; and brother in law, Jim Noble.

Those left to celebrate her life include her husband, Jim Andrew of the home in Palisade; children, Boyd (Jacki) Andrew of Englewood, FL, Charles (Deb) Andrew and Sharon (Tom) Miller all of  Wauneta, NE; brothers, Lawrence (Velma) Hicks of St. Roberts, MO and Dale Hicks of Mountain Grove, MO; sister in laws, Karen Steinbeck of Palisade, NE, Rita Hicks of Cabool, MO and Ileta Hicks of Prairie City, OR; brother in law, Albert (Jeanette) Andrew of North Platte, NE; son in law, Jamie Christner of Palisade; two son in laws, Doug Hamilton of Alliance, NE and Richard Hicks of California; special friends, Fred (Nada) Krotter of McCook; twelve grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and lifelong friends.

Visitation, with family greeting friends, will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2020 from 5 to 7PM at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook, NE.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 14, 2020, beginning at 10:30 AM (CT) at the Hamlet Union Church in Hamlet, NE with Pastor Joshua Clark officiating.

Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery Wauneta, NE.
