Phyllis J. Kotschwar, age 66, died Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at her home in McCook.
Phyllis was born July 6, 1943 in Benkelman to Huel and Pauline (Scott) Payton. She lived her entire life in Southwest Nebraska. She attended the McCook Public Schools.
On August 14, 1958 she married Kent Kotschwar, to this union were born five children, Christine, who died in infancy, Danny and wife, Mary (Smith), Kelly and husband, Nathan Middleton, Steven and wife, Rachelle, and Lonnie and wife, Erica. She loved and enjoyed all her grandchildren immensely, watching them grow and mature.
Phyllis enjoyed bowling and was on several leagues, until her health was failing. She loved her dogs and took pride in her kennel, breeding and raising quality puppies for select pet stores. She worked for seven years at Dayco Rubber Hose and later at Daylight Donuts. She enjoyed crocheting, fishing, and playing pinochle.
She fought a brave courageous battle with lung cancer for several months.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Huel and Pauline; daughter, Christine; and sister, Doris Grossman.
She is survived by her husband Kent Kotschwar of McCook; Danny and wife, Mary (Smith) of Houston, TX, Kelly and husband, Nathan Middleton, of Natchitoches, LA, Steven and wife, Rachelle of Hebron, Ne, Lonnie and wife, Erica of Bertrand, NE; and 12 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her name to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be Friday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Cremation will follow visitation.
Memorial services will be Saturday, November 28, 2009, 2:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Pastor Lance Clay officiating. Inurnment will follow the service at Memorial Park Cemetery.
