Phyllis Marie (Stewart) Myers

Phyllis M. Myers, age 96, of Palisade, NE passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Community Hospital of McCook, NE.

Phyllis was born April 24, 1921 to Arthur and Nellie (Hayes) Stewart in Culbertson, NE. She attended school in Culbertson and Palisade, graduating from Palisade High School in 1940.

On June 15, 1940 Phyllis married Raleigh Myers in Hayes Center, NE.  The couple was blessed with two children, Richard and Barbara.

Phyllis was a member of the Palisade Methodist Church and a past member of Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed taking care of her lawn and garden, and in her free time Phyllis could be found playing cards and reading.  She also worked as a reporter for the Palisade Times Newspaper for many years.

Phyllis is survived by her son, Richard and wife, Carlene Myers of Morse Bluff, NE; daughter, Barbara and husband, Gene Baker of North Platte; sisters, Janet McKillip of Hayes Center and Ardith Hopper of Huntsville, Ark; sisters-in-law, Lynda Stewart of Lincoln, NE and Bettye Stewart of McCook; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Raleigh Myers, in 1974; parents, Art and Nellie Stewart; sisters, Helen Bailey and Norma Mae Stewart; and brothers, James and William “Bill” Stewart.
