Phyllis "Gwenn" Stevens

Phyllis Gwenn Stevens, age 92, of McCook, NE passed away on September 11, 2019 at Community Hospital, McCook.

Gwenn was born March 14, 1927 in Herndon, KS to parents John Lewis and Dorothea M. (Sawtell) Ream.  She was one of three children born to this union.  The family later relocated to the McCook community where Gwenn attended school, graduating from McCook High School with the Class of 1945.  She then went on to attend Colorado’s Women’s College for one year.

On December 15, 1946, Gwenn married William Stevens in McCook.  The couple made their home in McCook and were blessed with four children.  Over the years, Gwenn worked as a bank teller and was a member of the Red Hat Society, McCook Cordials and PEO Chapter X.  She enjoyed crafts, wood working with Bill in the shop and travelling throughout the United States.  Her family shares fond memories of a few special trips to Europe, Asia and the Mediterranean.

Gwenn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Stevens in 1997; daughter, Janice Teague and her brother, John Ream, Jr.

Those left to celebrate her life include her children, Ashley Stevens of Freeland, WA, Bill Stevens of The Villages, FL and Mike (Lori) Stevens of McCook; son in law, Sam Teague of Castle Rock, CO; ten grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
