Biography

Regan "Reg" E. Vlasin of Hayes Center died Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at Community Hospital in McCook after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 45 years old.

Reg was born on September 5, 1962 at McCook to Joseph P. and Doris M. (Nelms) Vlasin. He graduated from Hayes Center High School in 1981. After his graduation he continued to live in Hayes County where he farmed and worked for the Hayes County Road Department until the time of his death.

Reg was a member of rural Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Hayes Center Lions Club where he served as a past-president. He was instrumental in organizing the Grand Duke Alexis Rendezvous held in Hayes County since its beginning in 2000.

He enjoyed listening to country western music and spending time with his family and many friends.

Preceding him in death were his brother; David Vlasin; maternal grandfather, Vernie Nelms; and paternal grandparents, Joe and Rose Vlasin.

Survivors include his parents, Joseph and Doris Vlasin of Hayes Center; two brothers, Rick Vlasin of Champion and Randy Vlasin and wife, Donna, of Lincoln; maternal grandmother, Etta Nelms of Wauneta; niece, Lindsay; nephews, Jeremy, Matt, Adam and Tyler and a host of friends.

Memorials were to be given in his name to the Hayes County Lions Club or Hayes County Foundation.

Rosary took place Sunday, September 9, 2007, at Carpenter Breland Chapel with Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, September 10, 2007, 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook with Father Gary Brethour as celebrant. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery rural Hayes Center.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
