On August 10, 2011 Richard A. Dack, at the age 76 went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ whom he accepted as his Savior on June 6, 1958. Richard had fought a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis however his faith never waivered. He loved his family dearly and was such an inspiration to all of them.
He was born April 30, 1935 in McCook to John William and Frances Elizabeth (Albrecht) Dack. He attended District 16, a country school. He graduated from McCook High School in 1953 at the top of his class. He then graduated from McCook Community College with honors. He entered the US Army where he served in Germany as a Sargent First Class and was later honorably discharged.

On Oct 12, 1958, he married Karen Barratt in McCook. To this union four daughters were born. Richard was so proud of his daughters. Richard and Karen have lived their entire married life in rural McCook where Richard was a farmer/ rancher. He loved and tenderly cared for the land. He was named "Outstanding Young Farmer" in 1970. It was an honor he greatly appreciated.
Richard loved spending time with his family, his four daughters and four sons-in-law and his ten grandchildren who were his whole world. The family dinners and get together were the bright spot of his week. He was a lifelong Nebraska Husker and Boston Red Sox fan. He also loved English Bulldogs and was the proud owner of several during his lifetime.
Richard was a member of The First Baptist Church of McCook, serving as a Deacon for many years. He was also a member of District 8 school board where he served as president.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Frances Dack; his in-laws Gerald and Ida Barratt; three brothers, Clyde (Bud) Dack, John (Jack) Dack, and Robert Dack; sister Doris Dack; brothers-in-law, Raymond Grafel, Dutch Eisenbarth, John Barratt, and Harold (Andy) Anderson; sisters-in-law, Jackie Johnson, Geraldean Anderson, Grace Dack, Agnes Dack, and Betty Dack.
Richard is survived by his wife of 52 years Karen Dack of McCook; four daughters, Tammy and husband Jim Fredrickson, children Sunnie and Jessica of Selden, KS, Lori and husband Harold Pearson, children Morgan, Chance Dack and Ian of McCook, Terri and husband Michael Skolout, children Spencer, Clayton and Thatcher of McCook, Kathy and husband Todd Lichty, and children Laykin and Luke Richard of McCook. He is also survived by sisters, Dorothy Eisenbarth and Barbara Grafel both of McCook; brothers-in-law Jerry Barratt of Tecumseh, NE, Bill Johnson of Denton, FL and sister-in-law, Myrna Barratt of Henderson, NV. Several nieces and nephews, and his long time hired man and honorary son Matthew Tirrill of McCook.
Memorials may be given to the Evangelical Free Church Building Fund or Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Visitation will be Friday, August 12, 2011, at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home from 1-8:00 p.m. Friends may go online at www.carpenterbreland.com to extend condolences.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 13, 2011,2:00 P.M., at Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Steve Bales officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
