Richard S. Fisher died Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. He was 68 years old.
On August 17, 1940 he was born in Maywood, Nebraska to Leonard S. and Ona Evalena (Blake) Fisher. He received his GED in 1959. He lived most of his life in southwest Nebraska and Northern Kansas.
He married Sheila Mae Van Cleave in McCook on December 27, 2000.
Richard worked with scrap metal, was a truck driver and a custodian for Leavenworth, Kansas schools. He enjoyed reading, fishing, car magazines and especially his children and grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters; one grandson, Isak, and one daughter-in-law, Juanita Fischer.
Survivors include: his wife Sheila of McCook; four sons, Richard and James of McCook, Galen of Russell, Kans. and David of St. Joseph, Missouri; a daughter, Janet Fisher of Atchison, Kans.; two step-sons, Mark & Shannon Wegele and Wayne Rima all of McCook; four step-daughters, Anne & Carl Schroat and Mary & Terry Applegarth and Katie & Chris Blosser all of McCook and Melody Titkemeier of North Platte; six brothers, Jay Fisher of Maywood, Leland & Cathy Fisher of Beaver Crossing, Eldon & Elaine Fisher of Lancing, Kans., Marvin & Peggy Fisher of Curtis, Bill Fisher of Topeka,Kans. and Gary & Linda Fisher of Curtis; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given in his name.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may leave condolences at www.carpenterbreland.com for Richard's family.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 6th at 2:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook with Pastor Jon Albrecht officiating. Burial will be in Garden Prairie Cemetery.
