Richard W. Winters

Richard William Winters of McCook passed away Monday, December 8, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was 68 years old.

Dick was born on January 8, 1946 in McCook to parents, Avery W. and Evelyn E. (McBride) Winters. He graduated from Indianola High School in 1964 and continued his education at McCook Community College.

On June 11, 1966 he was united in marriage to Carla A. Myers at McCook. They made their home in McCook. Dick was a Briggs and Stratton Service Tech and enjoyed building and working on small engines. Rebuilding a 1940 John Deere Tractor was a pride and joy for Dick. He was also employed with Automotive Sales and Service for 30 plus years. After his retirement he continued to work for D&S Hardware.

In his free time Dick along with his sons ran go-cart races. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his dogs.

Preceding him in death was his father Avery Winters; sister-in-law Tammy Winters; and brother-in-law, Roady Ryan.

Survivors include his wife, Carla Winters of McCook; his mother, Evelyn Winters of McCook; daughter, Heather and husband, Dale Kujawski, of Oakdale, CA; sons, Shawn Winters and wife, Trina, of McCook and Stacy Winters and wife, Heidi, of Omaha; sisters, Carol and husband, Rod Crampton, of Riverside, CA, Linda and husband, Lee Maiden, of McCook and Peggy and husband, Bob Rauch, of Lodgepole; brothers, Ken Winters of Hastings and Scott Winters and his wife, Kris of Cordova; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, and host of relatives and friends.

Memorials may be given in his name.

Graveside memorial services will be 1:00 p.m.Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Memorial Park Cemetery.
