Robert E. Hanke

Robert E. Hanke, age 72, of McCook, NE passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2019 in McCook.

Robert was born January 4, 1947 in McCook to parents William J. and Mary Marcidine (Medearis) Hanke.  Robert attended school in McCook before enlisting in the United States National Guard where he proudly served his country from 1966-1967.

Robert married Bette (Alberts) Hanke on September 29, 1968.  To this union a son was born, William.  Robert and Bette later divorced.  Over the years, Robert worked as an OTR Truck Driver and also did numerous odd jobs, such as painting, around the community for Butch Curl.  He enjoyed racing go carts and spending time visiting with people.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; and two grandchildren, Zackery and Derick Hanke.

Those left to celebrate his life include his son, Bill Hanke of Culbertson, NE; aunt, Wilda Willis of TX; three grandchildren, Hannah Hanke of Palisade, NE, Madison Hanke of Culbertson and Emilee Hanke of Arapahoe, NE; as well as numerous cousins and extended family members.

Graveside Memorial Services with Military Honors will be held at 2PM on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 in Calvary Cemetery, McCook, with Father Gary Brethour presiding.

Memorial Contributions may be made in Robert’ Name.  All proceeds will be used to purchase a cemetery monument in honor of Robert’s grandmother and mother, and may be directed to Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, P.O. Box 476, McCook, NE 69001.
