Biography

Robert "Bob" Burns Korell died Monday, September 24, 2007 near his rural Culbertson home. He was 70 years old.

Bob was born on October 18, 1936, to Roy Clark and Morah L. (Hanks) Korell on the family farm north of Culbertson. He attended rural elementary school and Culbertson High School.

On August 31, 1958 he married Neva Jane Mackey. To this union two children were born. They made their home on the family farm where Bob was born. Bob farmed and raised cattle all of his life. He was also employed at Midwest Livestock for many years.

He was a member of Culbertson Trinity United Methodist Church and McCook Eagle's Club. He loved watching horse races and following his grandchildren's many activities.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Roy and Morah Korell; two grandchildren, Brandon Michael and Holly Anne Messersmith; and four brothers, LeRoy, Dewey, Cletis and Frank Korell.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Jane Korell of Culbertson; son, Kenneth Korell and wife, Christie, of Hayes Center and their children, Kevin and Jesse Korell and Brook and Ryan Amateis; daughter, Peggy and husband, Michael Messersmith, of Palisade and their children Dove, McKenize and Keifer Messersmith; one brother, Gordon Korell and wife, Emma, of Springfield, MO; one sister, Wauneta Bodeman of Portland, OR; and a host of relatives and friends.

Memorials were to be given in his name.

Funeral services were Friday, September 28, 2007, 10:30 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Melano officiating. Burial took place in the Culbertson Cemetery.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
