Robert (Lindy) Raymond Lenhart, age 91, died Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Community Hospital in McCook.
Robert (Lindy) was born October 19, 1918 in McCook to Amelia (Maul) and Henry Lenhart. He attended West Ward, McCook High School, McCook Junior College and earned a Bachelor's of Arts degree at Wayne State College. He took great pride serving four years in active duty with the U.S. Army in Germany for the 69th Infantry during WWII.
In 1948, he married Kathyrn Ileen Downs. To this union two daughters were born, Becky and Lisa. He worked at the McCook Ice Cream Co., International Harvester and retired from the Burlington Northern railroad after 32 years as a conductor.
Lindy never knew a stranger and always had many jokes for them. His biggest love in his lifetime was his wife, Ileen of 61 years, his two daughters, Becky and Lisa, his five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Amelia and Henry; one brother, Henry (Hank) Lenhart; sisters, Marie Aynes, Rachael Lenhart, Elizabeth McDill, Florence McDonald and Hannah Sloniker.
Survivors include his wife, Ileen (Downs) Lenhart; two daughters, Becky and husband, Ron Berry of Imperial and Lisa and husband, Gaylin Prior of Hastings; five grandchildren, Stacy and husband, Dan Leibhart of Imperial, Kevin Berry and wife, Heidi of Spokane, WA, Jenny Prior, Aaron Prior and Evan Prior all of Lincoln; two great grandchildren, Katelyn and Brock Leibhart of Imperial.
Memorials were to be given in his name.
Memorial services were Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at McCook Christian Church with Pastor Clark Bates officiating. Inurnment and graveside committal followed with full Military Honors at Riverside Cemetery in McCook.
