Biography

Robert Paul Malleck, 68, of McCook, died Sunday, January 15, 2006 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

He was born January 30, 1937 in Indianola, to Charles L. and Lorene Agnes (Weskamp) Malleck. He graduated from Red Willow High School in 1955 and attended McCook Community College where he played football.

Robert was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Knight's of Columbus, and the McCook Elk's Lodge. He coached his son and daughters in softball and baseball and enjoyed attending his grandchildren's activities. He also touched many young peoples' lives through his love of sports. He and his family were awarded "Family of the Year" by the YMCA in 1981.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, Christopher; his parents, Charles and Lorene Malleck; and one brother, Darrel Malleck.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn of McCook; son, Ray, and wife Joyce Malleck of Holyoke, Colo; three daughters, Joan and husband Randy Bass of Culbertson, Kellie and husband Jim Mullen, and Cheryl and husband Deon Leitner all of McCook; four brothers, Kenneth and wife Nita Malleck, Gene and wife Marjorie Malleck all of McCook, Archie and wife In Suk Malleck of Kileen, Texas, and Loyce and wife Marilyn Malleck of Denver; one uncle, John and wife, Mildred Weskamp of McCook; 11 grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; two step-grandchildren; five step-great-granddaughters.

In lieu of flowers memorials were to be given in his name.

Rosary took place Thursday, January 19, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Chapel.
Funeral services were Friday, January 20, 2006, 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Brethour officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
