Robert Mitchem

Robert A. Mitchem, age 71, of Indianola, NE passed away August 24, 2015 at his home in Indianola.

Robert was born February 10, 1944 in McCook, NE to parents Dale and Fern (Worske) Mitchem. He was one of ten children born to this union. Robert grew up in McCook, moving to Indianola in the 90’s.

Robert married Phyllis from Colorado in Kansas in the 60’s. The couple had five children. He then married Kathy of Wisconsin in 1989. They were blessed with two children.

Robert enjoyed fishing and hanging out with his buddies having a cold one and playing pool. He worked alongside his brother, Larry, doing carpentry work. He also helped Chance to keep remodeling their home and the Rocket Inn in Indianola. Chance was like a son to him, they would talk about God together.

Survivors include his children, Jodell, Yovonne, Roberta, Tina, Bobby all of Colorado, Jennifer and Jamie of Wisconsin; informally adopted son, Chance; brothers, Dale Vern of McCook, Larry of Indianola and Mike of Lincoln; sisters, Sandra of Lincoln, Linda of Cambridge, Erma of Lincoln and Laura of Omaha; 34 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; a lot of friends, and a special friend Kevin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Virginia and Viretta Matlinda and one grandchild.

Memorials may be given in his name.

Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the Assembly of God with Pastor Gary Fuller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
