Robert Dean Wilcox Sr.

Robert Dean Wilcox, Sr. died Thursday, August 24, 2006 at Hillcrest Nursing Home. He was 76 years old.

Robert was born July 24, 1930, at McCook, to Roy and Mildred (Adams) Wilcox. He graduated from McCook High School in 1948. Robert served in the National Guard from 1948 until 1954.

He married Phyllis Eileen Wagner on June 26, 1949 at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook. To this union, five children were born, Robert Jr., Gary, Richard, Nancy and Kimberly. Robert was owner/operator of Wilcox Well Drilling. He also farmed and raised cattle. He was a lifetime resident of the McCook community.

He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mildred; infant brother.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of McCook; sons, Robert Wilcox, Jr. and wife, Cindy of McCook, Gary Wilcox and wife Marina of Montgomery, Texas, Richard Wilcox and wife Lisa of McCook; daughters, Nancy Stritt and Husband John of Kearney, Kimberly Carpenter and husband Michael of Hiawatha, Kansas; brother, Dale Wilcox and wife Phyllis of Aurora, Colorado; sisters, Dian Parsons of McCook, Dona Hughes of Hays, Kansas; 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials can be given in his name to the Alzheimer's Association or to the NE Chapter of Parkinson Disease Association.

Funeral services will be Monday, August 28, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until noon and Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will be greeting friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Friends may sign his book at the funeral home or send condolences online at www.carpenterbreland.com
