Robert "Bob" Dennis Woodruff

Robert “Bob” Dennis Woodruff, age 91, of McCook, NE passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at his home at Highland Park in McCook.

Bob was born October 18, 1929 in Tintah, Minnesota to parents George F. and Theolyn S. (Christenson) Woodruff.  He was one of five children who attended grade school in Tintah, country school in Doran, MN and high school in Campbell, MN.  Bob worked on the family farm until his enlistment, at the age of twenty one, in the United States Army.  Bob proudly served his country from 1951 until his Honorable Discharge in 1954. The majority of that time was spent serving in Germany.

Bob met the love of his life, Betty Marie (Huff) Woodruff on Valentine’s Day, 1954.  The couple wed later that same year, on June 20, in Beatrice. Bob’s large family welcomed his new bride with open arms.

Bob and Betty moved to McCook in 1966, and were blessed with two children, Charles “Chuck” and Janie.  Bob was employed by D and S Hardware from 1966 to 1984 and Country Floral and Design from 1984 to 1997. Bob and Betty were active members of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.  Bob enjoyed spending time in the garden, traveling with Betty on countless trips, and especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Woodruff in 2019; his parents, George and Theolyn Woodruff; sisters, Nell Ramming and Vera Lancaster; brothers, Dean Woodruff and Roy Woodruff;  father and mother in law, Charles and Lucille Huff.

Those left to celebrate his life include son, Chuck (Holly) Woodruff of Douglas, WY; daughter, Janie (Tom) Bredvick of McCook; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren, Gina Fabricus and her children, Colter, Kambri and Weslee, DeArby Anderson and her children, Aubrey and Ainzley, Jalynn (Kyle) Fredekind and her son, Kaithan and Drew (Sam) Bredvick, Dustin Bredvick and (fiancé Aubrey Wagner) and Dawson Bredvick; as well as many nieces, nephews and great friends.

Visitation, with family greeting friends, will be held on Monday, August 9, 2021 from 6 to 8 PM at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 beginning at 10:00 AM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, with Pastor Lisa Mensinger officiating. Inurnment of cremains with Military Honors will follow in the Lebanon Cemetery in Lebanon, NE.
