Ronald Magner

Ronald Eugene Magner, age 78, of McCook, NE passed away at his residence in McCook on Sunday, February 6, 2022.

Ron was born September 23, 1943 in Los Angeles, CA to mother, Cynthis J. Stowers.

Ron was a thirty-year veteran of the United States Marines.  He enlisted in 1962 and earned the rank of Private First Class.  His efforts in the Vietnam War awarded him a defense service medal, campaign medal, Presidential Unit Citation, multiple Purple Hearts and Marksman Badge Rifle.  In 2016, Ron was awarded Marine of the Year for the First Marine Division, an award he received at the annual U.S. Marine’s Birthday Party.  Ron was honorably discharged in 1993 as a Master Gunnery Sergeant.

Ron enjoyed playing pool and made several trips to Vegas where he played competitively.  He was also a race car driver.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; brother; and other extended family members.

He is survived by his close friend, Rick (Betty) Michaelsen of McCook; as well as extended family.
