Rosa Belle (Curran) Repass, age 92, of McCook, NE passed away in McCook on September 20, 2021.
Rosa Belle was born August 22, 1929 in Hayes Center, NE to parents John J. and Elva E. (Scott) Curran. She was one of three children born to this union. Rosa Belle attended school in Hayes Center, graduating with the Class of 1948. Following high school, Rosa Belle began teaching. She continued to teach until she was married.
On August 18, 1950, Rosa Belle married the love of her life, Robert Repass, in North Platte, NE. The couple was blessed with three children. Rosa Belle was very involved in the day to day farming and was also a cook at the school for many years until retiring. She and Robert received the Pioneer Farm Family Award in 1985 for one hundred years of land ownership before moving to Hayes Center. After Robert’s death, Rosa Belle moved to McCook where she resided until her death.
Rosa Belle was involved in her children’s, grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s activities and could usually be found with one or more of them on her lap while she read to them. Wherever she resided, she was caring for her grandchildren and her greats. It was lovingly referred to as “Grandma Olda’s Day Care”.
Rosa Belle was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Hayes Center as well as the McCook Evangelical Free Church.
Rosa Belle was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Repass; son, Ronald Repass; sister and brother in law, Norma Jean (Marvin) Peterson; brother, Donald Curran; and great granddaughter, Kristen Repass.
Those left to celebrate her life include her children, Gerald (Kate) Repass of Hayes Center and Gaylea (Chuck) Bunstock of McCook; daughter in law, Rita Repass of McCook; sister in laws, Ilah (Ted) Hanley and Mary Lou Repass, all of California; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; numerous extended family members and lifelong friends.
