Ruth Elaine Budig died Monday (Oct. 30, 2006) at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital in Cambridge Nebraska.
She was born April 4, 1923 in Culbertson, Nebraska and was the daughter of Ira and Flossie (Korell) Joy. She graduated from Culbertson High School.
On April 4, 1948 she married Carl Budig in McCook, Nebraska. Together they owned and operated the Budig Motor Company until 1975. In 1979 they moved to Mesa, Arizona. Elaine returned to Nebraska in 2003 to be closer to her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl in December 16, 1993, one sister, Wilma Hoyt and brothers, Willard and Dean Joy.
She is survived by one sister, Iris Thompson and twin brother, Wayne Joy; three daughters, Carlaine and husband, Howie Swinton of Puerto Penascu, Mexico; Lynda and husband, Bill Baumbach of Indianola and Debra and husband, George Ward of Hastings; 6 grandchildren Chris Wacker of Krebs, Oklahoma; Christina Wacker of Tucson, Arizona; Nathan Baumbach of Omaha; Cecily Bolte of Santa Fe, New Mexico; Chelsey Cerny of Lincoln; Alyssa Ward of Great Bend, Kansas; 4 great-grandchildren Brianna, Madelyn, Lauren and Nicholas; nieces; nephews; and numerous relatives and friends.
Memorial services were Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at St. Albans Episcopal Church at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Sam Williams officiating. Inurnment followed in the St. Alban’s Columbarium.
Memorials may be given to Tri-Valley Health Systems in Cambridge.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
