Ruth Ellen Callan, age 90, died Monday, October 8, 2007 at Hillcrest Nursing Home.
She was born September 9, 1917, in Mullen, Nebraska to Harold and Susie (O'Brien) Tourtellotte. She grew up and lived in McCook. She attended grade school and graduated from McCook High School in 1936.
In 1937, she married Stanley Dale Callan. She was employed with the NorthWestern Bell telephone company in 1943, as an operator supervisor. In 1968, she was promoted to traffic manager and continued to work for NorthWestern Bell for 30 years.
She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in McCook.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Susie; two brothers, Earl Tourtellotte, Cliff Tourtellotte; two infant sisters, Barbara Jean Tourtellotte and Margaret Suzanne Toutellotte; and her youngest son, David Callan in 1990.
She is survived by a son, Ron Callan and wife, Gayle of Columbus; daughter, Marilynn Jezek of McCook; two daughters-in-law, Diane Clark of McCook and Karen Callan of Julesburg, Co.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great- grandchildren; several nieces; and one nephew.
In lieu of flowers memorials were to be given in her name.
Funeral services were Friday at 11 a.m. at the First Assembly of God with Pastor Eddie Wright officiating. Inurnment took place at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
