Ruth Virginia Johnson of Hayes Center passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at Countryside Care Center in Gordon, Nebraska.
Ruth was born January 9, 1919 in Hayes Center to William and Mary (Bailey) Jeffers.
Her mother passed away when she was two, so she was raised by her grandparents, Arthur and Dawn Bailey. She graduated from Palisade High School in 1937.
On October 22, 1941 she married Earl Lawrence Johnson. Three children were born to this union.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Legion Auxiliary, Harmony Club and Nifty Nipper Club. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, gardening, knitting, quilting, bingo and playing cards.
Preceding her in death was her parents, William and Mary; grandparents, Arthur and Dawn; husband Earl; infant grandsons, Kyle and Robert Johnson; one brother, Charles Jeffers, one sister, Mary B. Selph.
Survivors include daughter, Mary Nielsen and husband, Tom of Gordon; son, James and wife, Lesa of Hayes Center; son, Kenny Johnson of St. Paul, Minn; grandchildren, Clint Nielsen, Tammi Ahrens and husband, Heath, Crystal Staley and husband, Justin; Blaine, Alisha and Tristan Johnson, Justin and Jenny Hamilton; Ryan and Erica Johnson, Alyssa and Nick Dotting; two great-grandchildren, Ashton James Johnson and Claire Mary Ahrens.
Memorials were to be given in her name.
Rosary took place at Carpenter Breland Chapel
Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, March 14, 2008, 1:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in rural Hayes Center with burial in the Hayes Center Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
