Ruth Needham

Ruth A Needham passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Community Hospital in McCook. She was 76 years old.

Ruth was born June 5, 1935 in Camden, New Jersey, daughter of William and Dorothy Barattucci. She graduated from Haddon Heights High School In 1953.

Shortly after her graduation at the age of 19, Ruth became afflicted with Polio. She was sent to Georgia & then Denver, Colorado for treatment and rehabilitation. It was while she was in Denver she met Merlin W. Needham.

They were married Sept 12, 1959 and made their home in Imperial, Nebraska before relocating to New Jersey and then later to McCook, Nebraska.

Ruth was a busy homemaker and mother. Her devotion to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ as well as her family, was a true testament of her love and commitment. She attended Immanuel Missionary Church in Wauneta, and faithfully read her Bible and daily devotions.

Ruth was an avid fan of Elvis Presley, especially his spiritual songs. She loved traveling, especially to New Jersey to visit her family and friends. She also had a special place in her heart for her pets.

Preceding her in death, were her parents William and Dorothy Barattucci; her husband, Merlin Needham on July 24, 2003 and Ruthann Needham on August 10, 1980.

Survivors include her daughter Tammy Needham, son Wayne Needham and
wife Peggy, all of McCook; sister, Marianne and husband Guy Chiarulli of Somerdale, New Jersey; brother Charles Hazzard and wife, Karen of Sicklerville New Jersey; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Memorials may be given in her name to the McCook Humane Society.

Visitation will be Thursday, from 1-8:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 2, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
