Sharon Lee Sitzman, age 72, of Culbertson, NE passed away Sunday, September 25, 2011 at the Community Hospital in McCook, NE.
Sharon was born November 30, 1938 in Hendley, NE to parents Floyd and Neva (Martin) Longsine. While growing up, Sharon attended school in Hendley through the 8th grade. She went on to complete her 9th grade year in Beaver City, NE before finishing her education in Lebanon, NE. Sharon graduated from Lebanon High School in 1956.
Following graduation, Sharon lived and worked in Ogallala, NE. In 1958, she moved in McCook where she was employed by Hested’s, Electric Hose and Rubber, K-Store and the Bear Cave in Culbertson.
On September 4, 1959 Sharon married William “Bill” C. Sitzman in Culbertson. To this union three children were born; Michael, Debra and Scott. The family made their home in Culbertson, NE.
Sharon was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Culbertson. She enjoyed flowers, fishing, camping and boating, bowling and working crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed traveling to Husker football games and spending time with her family, especially singing with her mother and sisters.
Sharon was preceded in death by her father, Floyd, and her brother in law Dwain John.
She is survived by her mother Neva Longsine of Lincoln, NE; husband Bill Sitzman of Culbertson, NE; son Mike Sitzman of Culbertson, NE; daughter Debra (Dave) Korte of McCook, NE; son Scott (Jennifer) Sitzman of Hugo, CO; three sisters, Shirley (Charles) Nelson of Central City, NE, Jan John of Lincoln, NE, and Bev (Mike) Hulsebusch of Lincoln, NE; as well as her four grandchildren, Whitney (Mike) Schoenemann of McCook, NE, Lance Korte of McCook, NE and Logan and Rhegan Sitzman of Hugo, CO. Sharon is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 27, 2011 from 2 to 8 PM at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook, with family present to greet friends from 6 to 8 PM.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Culbertson with Rev Corey Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Culbertson Cemetery.
