Sharon Mockry Stevenson

Sharon Kay (Mockry) Stevenson, age 71, of Oberlin, KS died Saturday, July 28, 2012 in Dakota Dunes, SD.

Sharon was born August 10, 1940 in Boise, ID to parents Edwin and Leola (Broyles) Black. She was one of two children.

On April 27, 1956, Sharon married husband Lee Mockry in Norton, KS. To this union they adopted two children, son Monty and daughter Ronda. Throughout the years, Sharon served as a Sunday school teacher, teaching elementary through high school aged children. Working out of her home in rural Oberlin, Sharon sold fireworks and was a hairdresser.

Following her husband Lee's passing in March of 1987, Sharon worked as a cook at the grade school cafeteria in Oberlin, KS. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends, and especially loved baking cookies for her Sunday school kids.

On July 22, 2006 Sharon married husband LeRoy Stevenson in McCook, the couple made their home in Oberlin. Sharon loved to take trips and shopping with her daughter, Ronda. She also volunteered for both the Oberlin Fair and Oberlin Hospice. Sharon was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in McCook, NE where she served in numerous children's ministry programs.

Sharon was preceded in death by her mother, Leola Black; her first husband, Lee Mockry; son, Monty Mockry, and stepson Gary Stevenson.

She is survived by her father, Edwin Black of McCook, NE; husband, LeRoy Stevenson of Oberlin, KS; daughter, Ronda Pinkerman and son-in-law Jeremy Pinkerman of Dakota Dunes, SD; brother, Lyle Black of Beverly Hills, CA; grandchildren, Abby, Mia, Sidny Pinkerman; sister-in-law, Jeanine (Stan) Reynolds; nephews, Lyn (Marcie) Reynolds and Paul (Kristine) Reynolds; nieces, Carli (Leonard) Reimer and Debbie (Greg) Thee; dog Sophie; grand-dog, Osborn; stepsons Vernon Stevenson, Robert (Suzy) Stevenson, and Jonathan Stevenson; stepdaughter Janice (Stevenson) Johnson; 8 step-grandchildren; 4 step-great grandchildren; and many cousins, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and family whom she loved so much.
