Shirley Beth Carter, age 59, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the home in McCook, NE.
Shirley was born March 7, 1957, in McCook, to parents Burdette Earnest and Edna May (Trimpey) Carter. She was one of three children born to this union.
Shirley is a lifelong resident of McCook, where she was able to benefit from the assistance of Southwest Area Training Services (SWATS). She competed in the Special Olympics and also enjoyed participating in many Senior Center activities. Shirley was a 4H Club member, and loved bowling, eating at McDonalds, shopping and singing Gospel music. She attended the First Baptist Church of McCook.
Preceding Shirley in death were her parents, Burdette and Edna Carter.
Left to mourn her passing are her two siblings, brother Calvin (Laura) Carter of Mocksville, NC and sister Kathie (Stephen) Wimmer of Raymond, NE; as well as her four nieces and nephews, Celeste (Donald) Beacham, Laura Susan (David) Copeland, Lori Wimmer and Peter (Robyn) Wimmer; aunt, Edith Buxton of Sun City, AZ; and a host of friends in the SWATS Program.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at 10AM at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will begin at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Pastor Clark Bates officiating.
Burial will follow in the Culbertson Cemetery, Culbertson, NE.
