Stephen L. Hollers

Stephen L. Hollers lost his 15 month battle with cancer the night of November 5, 2010.

Steve was born on June 8, 1950 to Claude A. and Maureen M. (Eickmeier) Hollers in Aberdeen, Maryland. He graduated from Lincoln Northeast in Lincoln, NE in 1970.

He served in the U.S. Navy for a short time until he received a medical discharge.

He married Judy A. Grube on April 22, 1972 in Indianola, NE. To this union three Children were born, Justin Lee, Jeffrey Lyn and Heidi Joleen.

Steve worked as a security guard for Wells Fargo before moving to the Indianola area in 1975. He served the city of Indianola as Chief of Police, followed by a time with the Red Willow County Sheriff Department from 1975 to 1998. In 1989 he started trucking for companies such as Ogorzolka Transport and Sunrise Express until his declining health in 2009.

He was a member of the Indianola Christian Church and served as an elder for 29 years. He enjoyed singing and playing the guitar. He was a puppeteer with the churches group, "Puppets of Praise". Steve also spent a few years as a Boy Scout Leader in Indianola.

He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Hollers.

He is survived by his wife, Judy of Indianola; children, Justin Hollers and wife, Diana of El Paso, TX, Jeff Hollers of Lexington, and Heidi Bridgmon and husband, Chris of McCook; mother, Maureen Schutte and step-father, Maynard of Lincoln; mother and father-in-law, Cliff and Elsie Grube of Indianola; brother, Gerald Hollers and wife, Vicki of Council Bluffs, IA; and 9 grandchildren.

Memorials may be given in his name or to the American Cancer Society or to the Indianola Christian Church.

Memorial services will be Monday, November 15, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at the Indianola Christian Church with Mike Searcey and Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.
