Stephen Edward Martin

Stephen Edward Martin, age 78, of McCook, NE passed away Monday, February 28, 2022 at his home in McCook.

Stephen was born March 14, 1943 in Oberlin, KS to Joseph M. and Sylvia L (Gilliland) Martin.  He grew up in Oberlin, KS.  He attended high school at St. Joseph’s Military Academy in Hays Kansas where he graduated in 1961.

Stephen entered the United States Army on November 5, 1962 and was honorably discharged on October 29, 1965.  Following his time in the military, Stephen worked for the Department of Roads in Colorado and in Mesa, AZ for many years.  Stephen retired in 1997 and moved to McCook.

Stephen enjoyed fishing and hunting.  He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing year around while living in Arizona.  Stephen was a member of the Catholic Faith.

Stephen was preceded by his parents; and son, James; sister and brother in law, Jolene and Carl Johnson, of Canon City, Colorado.

Stephen is survived by his children, Tony and wife Angela Martin of Des Moines, IA; Troy Hamlin (Beth Bolen) of Nokomis Missouri; Marla Hamlin Martin (Jim McKinnie) of Nokomis, Il; one grandchild, Loren (Carrie) Hamlin of Union Missouri, nephews Eric Johnson and family and Scott Johnson and family both of Canon City Colorado, and numerous extended family and friends.
