Teddy Leroy Wickard

Teddy Leroy Wickard passed away Friday, January 24, 2014, at Community Hospital in McCook, NE. He was 86 years old.

Teddy was born on February 1, 1927 at Jerry City, Ohio to parents, Ralph and Bessie May (Dyer) Wickard. On February 29, 1944, he entered the US Navy during WW II. He served on the USS Welles USS Rupertus, part of the 7th fleet in the Pacific. He was honorably discharged April 19, 1946.

Teddy was an active member of AA serving in all aspects and activities of the organization. He was an important member of the Uptown McCook AA club for nearly twenty years before his death.

Teddy was in sales most of his life. He moved to the McCook community in 1994 and was currently residing at Hillcrest Nursing Home at the time of his death.

Teddy enjoyed playing cards, fishing, and leather crafting.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Ralph and Bessie Wickard; two children, Karen Starr and Jerald Wickard; one sister, Ila May Riegle; and one brother, Edwin R. Wickard.

Survivors include his children, Joseph Wickard of Sachse, TX, Kathy and husband, Keith Fultz, of Bakersfield, CA, John Wickard of Denver,CO and Jeff Wickard of Casper, WY; one sister, Joanne Tennison of Bowling Green, CA; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to the Uptown McCook Chapter of AA, McCook, NE.
