Thelma P. Carpenter died Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at her home in McCook. She was 72 years old.
Thelma was born on November 21, 1937, at Farnam to Gerald James and Lucett (Wear) Halley. She graduated from Red Willow High School.
On July 12, 1957, she was united in marriage to Rodney Eugene Carpenter in McCook. To this union two sons, Roderick and Russell were born. Thelma was a busy mother. She also worked at St. Catherine's Hospital, Larry's Café© and the Eagle's Club.
Thelma loved to sew, collect antiques and bells, and go to garage sales. She grew a large garden canning much of it and delighted in giving it away. She and Rodney enjoyed traveling and camping in their Winnebago.
Preceding her in death were her parents Gerald and Lucett Halley.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Rodney Carpenter of McCook; sons, Roderick Carpenter and wife, Jada, of Indianola and Russell Carpenter and wife, Tracy, of McCook; grandchildren, Roxanne, Keaton, Dakota and Shianne; one brother, Marvin Halley and wife, Beverly, of Farnam; two sisters, Peggy Halley of Cambridge and Ellen Perkins of Seymour, TN; special friend, Gail Godfrey of Indianola; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Memorials were to be given in her name.
Funeral services were Tuesday, July 20, 2010, 10:00 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Chapel with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Burial took place in Arbor Cemetery near Stockville.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
