Twyla Louise Steinbrink

Twyla Louise Steinbrink, age 88, of Trenton, NE passed away on Monday, August 31, 2020 at Hillcrest Caring Center in McCook, NE.

Twyla was born January 17, 1932 in Kearney, NE to parents Mortimer B. and Minnie Hazel (Burge) Jordan.  She was one of five children born to this union.  Twyla attended school in Kearney, graduating from Kearney Public Schools with the Class of 1950.  She then went on to attend Kearney State College, obtaining a teaching degree in 1953.

On March 21, 1953, Twyla married Rex Steinbrink at the United Methodist Church in Kearney.  The couple became parents to seven children.  In 1961, the family moved to the Trenton community where Twyla began a lifelong teaching career.  She taught at Hitchcock County Schools for twenty-nine years and was a librarian at the Trenton Public Library for ten years.

Twyla was a member of the Trenton United Methodist Church for over fifty years, the Trenton Community Quilters, the VFW Auxiliary, Delta Kappa Gamma, the Extension Club and the Book Club.

Twyla was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Janet Higley; sisters, Margaret (Ed) Fredrickson, Charlene (Bernard) Weaver and Gwen (John) Galloway; brother, Gerald Jordan; and daughter in law, Bonnie Steinbrink; son in law Kurt Dailey and great grandson, Quinlan Rex Stevens.

Those left to celebrate her life include her husband, Rex Steinbrink of McCook; children, Connie (Tom) Bryant of Wayne, OK, Diane Dailey (Mark Martin) of Chattanooga, TN, Rodney (Kim) Steinbrink of Scott City, KS, Carol (Rick) Brown of Hayes Center, Richard (Judy) Steinbrink of Garden City, KS,  and Larry (Kathy) Steinbrink of North Platte, NE; son in law, Richard Higley of Culbertson NE, sister in law Jean Jordan of Lincoln NE; nineteen grandchildren; thirty seven great grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and dear friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 3, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook, NE.

Funeral services will be held at 10AM on Friday, September 4, 2020 at the United Methodist Church in Trenton, NE with Pastor Alisa Parde officiating.

Private family burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, NE.
