Verlyn (Vern) Glebe
Verlyn Lee (Vern) Glebe passed away Saturday, February 19, 2011 at El Dorado Manor Nursing Home in Trenton. He was 79 years old.
Vern was born May 5, 1931 at Campbell, NE. He is the second of six children born to Lee and Oleda (Trambly) Glebe. He attended school at Wilcox, NE.
Vern was drafted during the Korean Conflict and spent 2 years in the United States Marines, serving in Korea.
He married Norma Jean Ostebuhr and to this union was born five children. He later married Nancy Flynn and to this union was born one son. April 24, 1981 he married Pauline (Pat) Huss.
Vern's occupations during his life were heavy equipment operator, crane operator and millwright. His love of life in later years was working on his many projects in his shop.
Vern was a member of VFW Post #281 of Stratton, an active member of Stratton's Chamber of Commerce and a member of St Joseph's Catholic Church in Stratton.
Vern was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerome (Joe); brother-in-law, Frank Albrecht; step- son, Mike Huss and step-granddaughter, Tara Emert.
He is survived by his wife, Pat, of the home; sons Ronnie Lee (Carla), Marshall Scott (Kate), Lee Anthony (Connie); daughters Barbara Lou (Dennis) Schneider, Naomi Sue (Dennis) Fogle; step-sons Robert (Durinda) Bertrand, Jim (Kristi) Bertrand; Patrick (Debra) Huss; step-daughters Lisa Ann (Terry) McNair; Deb Bertrand, Pam (Woody) Baybridge and Paula (Rod) Sramek; sisters, Darlene Albrecht, Vaughdel (Melvin) Abels, Annie (Larry) Fouts; brother, Norbert (Barb) Glebe; sisters-in-law, Dolores McKain, Marjorie (Bob) Grimm, Midge Forbes; brother-in-law, A J (Brenda) Haller; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Memorials can be made in his name and left at the funeral home.
Rosary will be Wednesday, February 23, 2011, 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Stratton.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, February 24, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Thomas Wiedel and Father Bernard Lorenz as celebrants. Inurnment will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.
