Veryl E. Walters

Veryl E. Walters passed away Friday, August 31, 2012, at Hillcrest Nursing Home. He was 83 years old.

Veryl was born on March 5, 1929, at Lebanon, Nebraska to John and Audra (Tipton) Walters. He graduated from Danbury High School in 1946.

On October 27, 1947 he was united in marriage to Eleanor Ann Kircher. Together they made their home on a farm south of Danbury where they raised their three children, Rod, Denny and Michele. In 1994, they retired and moved to McCook.

Veryl was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, McCook Elk’s Club and Danbury Coop Board. He loved to fish, tinker in his shop, and play pinochle. Veryl loved music especially playing his harmonica and attending dances with Eleanor.

Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Audra Walters; his wife of 63 years, Eleanor Walters on November 3, 2010; and a daughter-in-law, Theresa Walters.

Survivors include his children, Rod Walters and fiancé, Lee Tillman, of Loveland, CO, Denny Walters and wife, Charlotte, of Danbury, and Michele and husband, Billy Witt of McCook; one brother, Eldon Walters and wife, Janice, of North Platte; four grandchildren, Chandler and Rachel Witt, Ryan Walters and wife Hannah, and Lindsey (Walters) Escobar; four great-grandchildren, Jordan, Austen, Makaila and Quincey; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Memorials may be given in his name. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home from 1 until time of rosary with family greeting friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

The rosary will be recited Wednesday, September 5, at 7:30 P.M. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, September 6, 2012, 10:30 A.M. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Gary Brethour officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
