Vesper Norine Ross died Monday (August 14, 2006) at El Dorado Manor in Trenton. She was 96 years old.

Vesper was born on February 23, 1910, in Red Cloud, NE to Chester Otis and Esther Arada (Rakestraw) Roberts. At the age of four, she moved with her parents to a farm south of Culbertson. She attended school at District 62. When she was nine, they moved to a farm on the Blackwood Creek north of Culbertson. She then attended School District 2 until the eight grade. She graduated from Culbertson High School in 1927.

She remained at home until December 2, 1929, at which time she married Daniel Floyd Ross. They made their home across the road from her parents and spent the next 30 years farming. To this union four children were born.

In 1959, due to her husband's failing health, they retired from farming. They purchased a home just north of Culbertson where Vesper lived until April of 2005, when she moved to El Dorado Manor in Trenton.
