Victor L. Beebe, age 90 of rural Hayes Center, Nebraska passed away on March 22, 2012 at El Dorado Nursing Home in Trenton. Victor was born April 13, 1921 on the family farm eleven miles North of Culbertson. He attended grade school in a one room country school house. Victor attended Bluff View his freshman year, then transferred to Culbertson High School. Here he met Naomi Hock, a classmate. They graduated in 1939.

Victor attended McCook Junior College for two years, then headed West to Sacramento, California to attend college but that was interrupted by World War II. He moved to San Diego and worked at Consolidated Voltee Aircraft Company building B24 Bomber Planes. In March 1943, Victor came back to Nebraska to help his dad on the farm. He married Naomi Hock on June 24, 1943 in McCook. They moved to a farm on the Willow Creek, 21 miles North of Culbertson or 15 miles Southeast of Hayes Center. To this union three children were born Joyce, Vonda, and Brett.

Victor bought his first airplane in 1949- a piper club. That same winter there were three big blizzards. Ben Frank flew groceries out to the area in the plane, gave Victor a flying lesson and then took the plane back to town. In 1954, he and Naomi joined the Nebraska Flying Farmers Association and have been members ever since. They have visited many states from the East to West coasts in their plane. Grandma said, "Flying was his first love, but they have spent many hours together cruising down the skyways on a Sunday afternoon."

Victor was preceded in death by his parents George and Julian Beebe; Naomi, his wife of 51 years, and second wife Bette.

Victor is survived by two daughters, Joyce (Russell) Spickelmeir of Culbertson, NE, Vonda (Terry) Morehead of Elsie, NE and one son, Brett Beebe of Mesa, AZ; two sisters, Sharon (Jack) Lytle of McCook, NE, Beryle Overton of Indianola, IA; one aunt, Ethel Beebe; five grandchildren, Cricket (Justin) Haag, Robin (Gary) Hager, Bambi (Michael) Eitel, Brenda (Ryan) Khoury, and Neil (Sarah) Gohl; five great-grandchildren, Kaden and Kolton Hager, Sawyer and Kiera Haag, and William and Hunter Khoury.

Memorials are suggested to the local Charity of Choice.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 27, 2012, 2:00 p.m. at First Congregational Church in McCook, NE with Pastor Steve Bales officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery
