Vincent Donald Thompson, 72, of McCook, died Sunday (Jan. 11, 2004) at Community Hospital of McCook.
He was born Feb. 23, 1931, to Donald Everett and Ruby Pearl (Hannah) Thompson in Stratton. He graduated from Trenton High School in 1950. He enlisted into the military service and was in the Air Force. He served his country during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1955.
He and his parents moved to Boulder, Colo., where he operated a filling station. Later, after the death of his parents, he moved to Loveland, Colo., and then to McCook. He worked as a mechanic most of his life.
On Sept. 18, 1993, he married Delores Y. Barger at First Christian Church. They made their home in McCook. Before Vincent became sick, he and his wife attended the McCook Christian Church. He was a resident of Hillcrest Nursing Home since August 6, 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Delores of McCook; four step-grandchildren, Ronald Barger and wife, Connie of Culbertson, Susan Blomstedt and husband, James of Wellfleet, John Barger and wife, Sharon of Lubbock, Texas and Jeanne Barger of Omaha; nine step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Services are Wednesday, 2 p.m., at McCook Christian Church with the Rev. Clark Bates officiating. Burial will be in the Culbertson Cemetery with the Trenton Veterans Honor Guard providing a military committal.
Memorials may be given to the McCook Senior Center.
