Virgil Bill Dwight McMahan died Saturday, January 27, 2007, at The Villages, FL. He was 80 years old.
Bill was born on November 17, 1926 at McCook to Joseph and Belva (Rowland) McMahan. He graduated from McCook High School in 1944.
He married Elgin LaVerne Jean Brooks on March 29, 1955 at McCook. Together they raised two daughters. They made their home in McCook where Bill was employed with the Nebraska Public Power District.
He entered the US Army on January 20, 1946 and then transferred to the US Air Force and served during World War II. He was honorably discharged after faithfully serving his country.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Joseph and Belva McMahan.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; daughters, Tamrah McCarville and Tolana Kersey; sister, Jean Brenning; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials were to be given to the American Cancer Society.
Funeral services were held on Friday, February 2, 2007, 2:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. Burial took place in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
