Virginia Lee Clifton died Wednesday (July 12, 2006) at Hillcrest Nursing Home. She was 83 years old.
She was born November 15, 1922 to E. Carl and Bessie (Austin) Macy in Marion. She graduated from McCook High School in 1940 and McCook Junior College in 1973.
She married Chester C. Clifton on December 1, 1940 at St. Francis, Kansas. To this union, three children were born, Charles L., Chester A., and Bess C.
She was an excellent mother and homemaker, and enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Chester C. on December 20, 1969; a granddaughter; her parents, Carl and Bessie; and two sisters, Ella Gallagher and Cleo Childers.
Survivors include her sons, Charles L. Clifton of Albuquerque, NM, Chester A. Clifton and wife, Judy of Bayard; daughter, Bess C. Gull and husband, Randy of McCook; grandchildren, Pamela Lawson and husband, Ray of Hampton, Craig Clifton and wife, Kerri of Thornton, Colorado, Meghan Gull of Lincoln, Moriah Gull of Kearney, Miranda Gull of McCook; great-grandchildren, Cody, Matthew, Nathan and Taylor; and sister, Marion Mosher of Minatare.
Memorials may be given in her name.
Memorial services were Friday (July 15, 2006) at 2:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with The Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. Inurnment took place at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Tuesday (July 18th) at 9 a.m.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
