Virginia M. Henthorn

November 14, 1926 — April 13, 2016

Virginia M. Henthorn, age 89, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at her home at Brookdale McCook.

She was born in Phillips, NE on November 14, 1926 to Henry F. and Emy A. (Larsson) Sandberg.  She graduated from Aurora High School in 1944.

Virginia married Robert W. Henthorn in Aurora, Nebraska on January 23, 1949.  To this union three children were born.

She worked at the McCook Daily Gazette, DeGroffs and Recollections.

Virginia enjoyed fishing, playing cards in card clubs, baking and bird watching.  She and Bob enjoyed making trips to Las Vegas to gamble with Bob and Deb.  She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include sons, Robert E. Henthorn and wife, Debra of Culbertson, Roger A. Henthorn and wife, Linda of McCook; daughter, Wendy Boukal and husband, Bob of Omaha; brother, Keath Sandberg and wife, Doris of Holdrege; grandchildren, Kris Boukal and wife, Laura, Craig Boukal and special friend, Lindsey, Alissa Boukal, Drew Henthorn and wife, Jenna, Shelby Henthorn and fiancé, Sam Fischer; great grand children, Miles Henthorn and Morgan Vacanti.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert on November 10, 2009; sisters, Dorothy (Cecil) Howland, Violet (Ellsworth) Danhauer.

Private family visitation will be held.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. April 18, 2016 at First Congregational Church with Pastor Steve Bales officiating.   Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be given in her name.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
