Biography

Virginia R. "Ginny" King died Friday, July 9, 2010, at Community Hospital in McCook. She was 82 years old.

She was born on September 24, 1927, at Towanda, Kansas to Ruel Carl and Darline (Gray) Meredith. She graduated from Bunker Hill High School.

On December 30, 1951, she was united in marriage to Hubert G."Pete" King at Salina, Kansas. To this union three children were born. They eventually moved to the McCook community in 1964. Virginia worked as a telephone operator. She was later employed at Sears for 20 years and Country Kitchen for 10 years.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a sister; Maxine Henry; a brother, Wayne Meredith and a grandson, Nathanial D. Buckley.

Survivors include her husband, of 58 years, Pete King of McCook; son, Scott and wife Julie, of Evergreen, CO; two daughters, Debra and husband, David Buckley, of Minneola, KS and Pamula and husband, Randy Olson, of Johnstown, CO; one brother, David Meredith of Berlin, Germany; two sisters, Norma Jean Kulik of Lubbock, TX and Marian and husband, J.C. Crumrine, of St. Joe, MO; and seven grandchildren, Caleb, Tanner, Seth, Chance, Ashley, Rachel and Evan; one great grandson, Kaleb; four step great grandchildren, Emily, Haely, Chase and Gavin.

Memorials were to be given in her name.

Memorial services were Friday, July 16, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Lance Clay officiating. Inurnment took place at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
