Vivian Lerneda Pierce of Kearney, Nebraska - formerly of Stratton, Nebraska - passed away Friday, May 22, 2015 at Mt. Carmel Home in Kearney. She was 90 years old.

Vivian was born on January 20, 1925, in Stratton, to Clarence and Ora (Miles) Richards. She graduated from Stratton High School in 1942.

On March 7, 1946, Vivian was united in marriage to Richard Charles Pierce in Atwood, Kansas. To this union three children were born, Geraldine, Kenneth, and Rodney. They made their home on a farm south of Stratton where Richard and Vivian were a registered Angus breeders for 56 years and Vivian worked as a postal clerk for the U.S. Postal Service. Vivian moved to Kearney in 2008 to be near family.

Vivian was a member of the Church of Christ in both Stratton and Kearney. She was also a Gold Member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Piecemakers Quilt Guild of McCook. Vivian loved to quilt and garden and greatly enjoyed traveling to Europe and Hawaii. She will always be remembered for her sweet smile and her desire to help others.

Preceding Vivian in death were her parents, Clarence and Ora Richards; her husband, Richard Pierce; her daughter, Geraldine Pierce; and two brothers-in-law, Bill Carroll and Gene Harchelroad.

Vivian is survived by two sons, Kenneth (Avis) Pierce of Kearney, and Rodney (Candace) Pierce of Windsor, Colorado; six sisters, Shirley (Neal) Hudson of McCook, Nebraska, Donna (Eugene) Jesch of Stratton, Eula Carroll of Hutchinson, KS, Wilva Harchelroad of Wauneta, NE, Dorothy (Keith) Birks of Laramie, WY, and Beverley (Neil) Dailey of Las Cruces, NM; five grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Memorials may be given, in Vivian's name, to the Stratton Church of Christ or a charity of choice.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at the Stratton Church of Christ in Stratton, Ne with Randy Hayes and Rev. Kevin Fink, officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Stratton, NE.
