Warren Calvin Davis of Culbertson passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Community Hospital in McCook. He was 88 years old.
Warren was born on April 10, 1924, at Rawlins County, Kansas, Driftwood Township, to Mariden "Alvin" and Etta (Johnson) Davis. He attended Driftwood Township rural school.
On August 5, 1942 he was united in marriage to Enid Phyllis Mann at Colby, Kansas. To this union three children were born. They made their home north of Ludell, Kansas on the same homestead as his birth. In 1964, the family moved northeast of Hayes Center, on Red Willow Creek, where they farmed and ranched. Warren and Enid retired in 1999 and moved to the Culbertson community.
Warren was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and IOOF. Warren was devoted to farming and ranching, but always put family first. After retirement, he enjoyed gardening, playing cards, visiting with friends, and spending time with family.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three sisters, one brother, and one son-in-law.
Survivors include his wife of almost 70 years, Enid Davis of Culbertson; son, Lynn C. Davis and wife, Judi, of Ogallala; two daughters, Dianne S. Connelly of Larned, KS, and Karen K. Smith and husband, Donald L., of Aurora, CO; brother, Loyd L. Davis of Loveland, CO; two sisters, Lafern I. Foote and Lela M. Bonser and husband, Delmar L., of Loveland, CO; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Memorials may be given in his name to the Culbertson Fire and Rescue.
Friends may sign his book during business hours at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be Saturday, April 14, 2012, 10:30 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Culbertson with Rev. Corey Jenkins officiating. A private family inurnment will be at a later date.
