William H Davis, age 85, of Trenton, Nebraska passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at his home in Trenton.
Bill was born January 23, 1930 in Stratton, NE to parents Paul Edgar and Thelma Lorraine (Campbell) Davis. He was one of seven children born to this union. The family made their home in Trenton where Bill attended country school.
Bill married Delores Dewey on June 9, 1950 in Trenton. Delores passed away September 5, 1990. Bill later married Gwendolyn Sughroue on April 18, 1992, also in Trenton.
Bill enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, golf and playing pool. He was a member of the Trenton United Methodist Church, the Elks Lodge and the Masons.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Delores Davis; daughter, Peggy Powers; three sisters, Gladys Lorimer, Madeline Stengel and Deb Nelson, and brother, Stan Davis.
He is survived by wife, Gwendolyn Davis of Trenton; two sons, Bill (Paula) Davis of McCook, NE and Jim (Vanesa) Davis of Windsor, CO; three daughters, Judy (Phil) McDonald of Trenton, Patsy (Lynn) Schmitt of Eaton, CO and Jean (Doug) Connely also of Eaton; son in law, Charles Powers of McCook; five step daughters; two step sons; sixteen grandchildren; eleven step grandchildren; thirty six great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters Jean Anderson of Kearney, NE, Charlotte Williams of Salt Lake City, UT and one brother Paul Davis of Denver, CO; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
The Davis Family would like to express their gratitude to the Hospice nurses and employees, you were all wonderful and truly a gift. Also, thank you to Dad’s caregivers Mary, Heather and Elaine. We could not have fulfilled Dad’s wish to remain at home without you. He loved you girls, and we are grateful for your care and love toward our Dad.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2015, 11 AM at the Evangelical Free Church in McCook with Pastor Jeff Donelan officiating.
A Private Family Inurnment will take place at a later time.
The family requests no memorials, however, feel free to make a donation in Bill’s name to a charity or organization of your choice.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
