William “Bill” Frances Shanahan, age 72, of Maywood, NE passed away unexpectedly on October 9, 2018 as a result of a motor vehicle accident in Red Willow County.
Bill was born July 20, 1946 to parents John and Susana (Paul) Shanahan in Denver, Colorado. He was one of five children born to this union. Bill attended school in Denver, graduating from Denver East High School with the Class of 1964.
On May 15, 1965, Bill married the love of his life, Mary Louise (Riffe) Shanahan in Denver, CO. The couple was blessed with five children and made their home in Simla, CO until 1984 at which time they moved to Bennett, CO.
In 2002, Bill and Mary moved to Curtis, NE. Bill had a passion for restoring and working on cars, especially classics and hot rods. He loved going to car races, fishing, hunting, and guns. He enjoyed attending his kids and grandkids many activities and events.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Shanahan in 2018; and his brother, John Shanahan.
Those left to mourn his passing include sons, Bill (Rosella) Shanahan, Jr. and children Angie, Marcus, Gus, Megan and Will of Naples, FL and Mike (Olga) Shanahan and children Tyler and Kristen of Belarus, Russia; daughters, Michelle (Glen) Owens and children Steph and Jenn of Marquez, TX, Kim (Travis) Patch and children Colby, Wyatt, Kaitlyn, Mason and Gracie of College Station, TX and Melissa (Bill) Bordner and daughter Selora of Bryan, TX; brother, Jim (Debbie) Shanahan of Littleton, CO; sisters, Diane Wilson of Aurora, CO and Debbie (Dan) Rowley, of Marietta, OH; as well as four great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
