Wilma Liess

Biography

Wilma Lucille Liess died Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at the Cambridge Hospital. She was 95.

She was born in Indianola to William Joseph and Bessie L. (Hess) Carmichael on January 28, 1914.

She was a member of St. Catherine's Altar Society, the American Legion Auxiliary and numerous card clubs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis in 1983; parents, Bessie and William Carmichael; brothers, Hugh, Jim and Vern Carmichael; sister, Lela Liess; grandson, Tom Rowland; granddaughter, Sandy Cox; son-in-law, Ron Cox; and daughter-in-law, Virginia Liess.

She is survived by her daughters, Virginia Rowland and husband, Jim of Indianola, Mary Cox of Lincoln; sons, Gale Liess and wife, Claudia of Bartley, Gene Liess and and wife, Carol of McCook, Jerry Liess and wife, Beverly of Weeping Water, Bill Liess and wife, Donna of Greeley, CO; sister, Alyce Mae Stritt of McCook; brother, Dell Carmichael of Indianola; sister-in-law, Velda Carmichael of Redding, CA; 29 grandchildren, 73 great- grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given to Cambridge Hospital Foundation.

Rosary will be Friday, May 22, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, May 23, 2009, 10:30 a.m. at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Indianola with Father Thomas McGuire as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Friday, 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
