Wilma Meints, 78, of McCook entered into peaceful rest on Saturday, November 11, 2006 at Community Hospital in McCook.
She was born August 1, 1928, four miles north of Wauneta to Raymond and Alta (Lentz) Handel. She attended school in Palisade.
She married Paul Meints June 21, 1947 in Oberlin, Kans. One son was born to this union.
They made their home in Wauneta where she worked in a creamery. And for several years was an interior/exterior house painter and wall paper restorer. They moved to McCook in the late 70's to take over the E. F. D. Freight Delivery Service. She retired to take care of her brother, Kenneth Handel.
She was a volunteer with the Special Olympics for years. Wilma was also a member of the Southwest Nebraska Antique and Rod Club in which she drove and showed her 1956 Ford. Her door and heart was always open to those in need of a friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Kenneth.
Survivors include her husband, Paul; a son, Pete Meints and wife Geraldine of McCook; one grandson, Chris Meints and wife Dawn of Valparaiso, Indiana; two great-granddaughters, Samantha Marie and Shelby Rae Meints; one sister, Mary Miller and husband Gene of Cambridge; many other friends and relatives.
Funeral services were Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at 10 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook. Burial took place in Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta.
Memorials were to be given in her name.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
