Yule G. Dorwart of McCook died Sunday, September 23, 2007 at Ponderosa Villa Nursing Home in Crawford, NE. He was 85 years old.
Yule was born on August 4, 1922, in McCook to Yule W. and Theresa Francis (Gatewood) Dorwart. He graduated from McCook High School in 1942 and attended McCook Junior College.
On November 13, 1942, he entered the US Navy and served in the South Pacific during World War II. He was honorably discharged on January 14, 1946.
Yule was united in marriage to Geraldine "Jerry" R.M. Barth in McCook on July28, 1946. To this union four sons were born. Among the different jobs Yule had the ones he was most proud of were his security officer positions at Hugh's Aircraft and Aerojet both based in California. In 1965 they moved to McCook where he worked until he retired.
He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, American Legion and Veteran's of Foreign Wars. Among his hobbies were bird carving, hunting, and raising ducks and pigeons.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Yule and Theresa Dorwart; and one son, Charles Dorwart.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Jerry Dorwart now living in Lusk, WY; sons, Raymond Alan Dorwart and wife, Tammy, and their son Daniel of Guthrie, OK, Barth Eugene Dorwart and wife, Velvet, and their daughter, Jocelyn and sons, Cole, Cort and Coop of Lusk, WY and Kraig Robert Dorwart and wife, Gina, and their daughters, Sasha and Siera of Lincoln; and one brother, Dr. John Dorwart and wife, Marilyn, of North Platte.
Memorials were directed to be given in his name to Ponderosa Villa of Crawford, Nebraska.
Funeral services were Wednesday, September 26, 2007, 2:00 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Bradley Rick. Burial took place in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
